It works thanks to actual GPS systems precisness and a possibility of interchanging information about newly created caches among the game participants. So they they can start the hunt in accordance with longitudinal and latitudinal coordinates. The reward for finding a cache is usualy hidden inside a plastic container or a preserving jar.
